The announcement came as part of a third round of investments in new classrooms under Budget 2016, which provides $882.5 million for school property nationwide to meet roll growth.
"Under the first two rounds, $5.8 million was announced last year for 13 additional classrooms in Hawke's Bay and Gisborne."
National MP for Tukituki Craig Foss welcomed the announcement and said it was an example of the government "backing the Bay".
He said the investment was great news for both the school and Hawke's Bay as it was another step in the right direction towards accommodating roll growth.
"A growing population is a good thing and any investment in education doesn't just benefit the children their now but has a life of 50 years."
Meanwhile Labour's Tukituki candidate Anna Lorck said a look at the bigger picture was needed.
"Across Hawke's Bay more schools are under pressure as last year's education crisis grows. Trucking in make shift classrooms is not going to be a long-term solution."
Ms Lorck said if she was the local MP she would be calling for an immediate report into the challenges of overcrowded schools and huge class sizes so parents, families and their local communities know what's going on.
"Every parent has a right to know what the future education landscape will look like for their child and we need to see the full picture to get a real handle on what's happening," she said.
She said just by adding classrooms the creation of mega schools starts to happen as well overcrowding.
"Under the National Government we are now seeing primary school class sizes reaching over 30 and climbing, with plans for mega schools and trucking in transportable classrooms."
"The best indicator of economic and social success is education, and a Labour Government will invest in smaller classes," she said.
Ms Kay said more announcements about new investments in roll growth classrooms will be made in the next six days.
