Power to 242 customers was out this morning after a car crashed into a power pole in Poukawa.
A police spokeswoman said police were called at 3am to State Highway Two between Poukawa Rd and Wharemoana Rd as a man had crashed a car into a pole.
The man, who was the only person in the car, was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital for blood tests and no serious injuries were reported.
Unison relationship manager Danny Gough said the crash caused damage to the power line network, which resulted in customers around Te Hauke waking up to no power this morning.
After seven hours of work power was restored progressively to customers and just after 10am all power was back on.
