Napier Port's former administration building is disappearing as the port gears up for continued efficiencies.
Along with the old operations building, it was earthquake prone and has been replaced with a new building at the port's gates in Breakwater Rd.
Other recent port investments include a 7ha depot for empty containers, a vehicle booking system, additional lanes and realignment of the container terminal gate, more container handling equipment and two cranes costing more than $13 million.
Napier Port is the fourth-largest container terminal in New Zealand behind Auckland, Tauranga and Lyttelton, handling more containerised cargo than Wellington, Nelson and Taranaki combined. Pictured in the foreground is a truck from Pan Pac Forest Products, the port's biggest customer.
