Police name man in quad accident

Emergency services were called to Homewood Rd about 9.15 last night.

Police can now release the name of the man who died in the Quad bike accident in Waipawa on Wednesday 20th January 2016.

He was Mr Graham Golding, 72, retired of Waipawa.

Mr Golding was spraying thistles on the Quad bike at the time of his death on a property nearby to his home address.

The matter has been referred to the Coroner for investigation.

He was the third to die in a quad bike accident in Central Hawke's Bay in six weeks.

In the space of nine days in December two Central Hawke's Bay farm workers were killed in quad bike accidents.

Waipukurau man Aussie Richmond Tuhou, 69, was killed following injuries sustained in a quad bike accident on December 8.

Vaughan Reid died on December 17 on a farm near Takapau.

The 62-year-old had farmed in Takapau his whole life, and was well known in the community.

Police said Mr Reid had been spraying weeds at the back of a farm on a quad bike, and when he did not return home a co-worker went to look for him.
