Police are looking for two people who robbed a Napier shop owner at knifepoint early this morning.

The victim arrived in his vehicle at his premises at the Onekawa shops on Maadi Rd around 3.50am this morning. When he got out of the car to unlock a gate he was confronted by two people dressed in black with their faces covered.

One of the two, described as a large male, threatened the man with a knife and demanded cash. The victim handed over several hundred dollars.

The two robbers then demanded his car keys and they drove off in the car in an unknown direction.

The white RAV4 was found parked in Hislop Ave, Maraenui, about 7am this morning. It is currently undergoing a forensic examination.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen two people acting suspiciously around the Onekawa shops between 3.30am-4am today. Appeals are also being made for sightings of the white RAV4 that may have been driven from Maadi Rd through Onekawa towards Maraenui.
