Families came together yesterday to celebrate the opening of the CanTeen "reflection area" at Pekapeka Regional Park.
CanTeen youth worker and branch co-ordinator Kerrie Waby said they had never found the right space for their planned annual picnic, until now.
"There's such a beautiful energy, it's such a nice place,"
she said.
As well as hosting the picnic, it would also be the site for the group's national reflection day.
Ms Waby said it was incredibly special to have a space just for CanTeen.
