This month's Music at the Muni concert in the Pan Pac Foyer of the Napier Municipal Theatre will be a solo recital by New Zealand pianist Richard Mapp.
He will play a programme including music by Scarlatti, Brahms Lilburn, Granados and Chopin for the event at noon on Thursday, August 27.
Mapp was born in Christchurch, and studied there with Ernest Empson and Maurice Till.
He graduated from the University of Otago with honours in piano and Composition and pursued further study in London with Gordon Green at the Royal Academy. While still a student in NZ he performed with the NZSO and toured for Chamber Music NZ.
Based in London, Mapp had a successful career as a soloist and chamber musician, playing at the South Bank and the Wigmore Hall and recording for BBC Radio 3. He also gave concerts in Austria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Malta, Canada, the US, Australia and Fiji.
