Parking changes for Hastings, Havelock North

Hastings District Council is considering changes to the city's parking which would make it harder to park all day.

A paper being put to council at its meeting on Thursday is recommending changes, including putting on a 120-minute time limit on Havelock Rd.

The recommendations would prevent parking outside business and residents from numbers 33-43 Havelock Rd, which is within the village itself.

The recommendation comes after the business at 37 Havelock Rd, Benskin Howard Osteopath, asked for changes to the parking rules to prevent people parking on the road all day.

Currently there is no time limit to parking on the road.

The report also recommends removing three P60 parks on Eastbourne St East, outside the Hastings District Library.

This is due to the extension on the bus stop, which is outside the Hastings District Library.

The P120 area outside the Hastings Health Centre on King St is also likely to be extended.

This is because car parks are changing from angle parks to parallel parks to accommodate the projected growth in traffic.
