Teen seriously injured in Hastings crash flown to Wellington Hospital

A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital following a single-vehicle crash on the outskirts of Hastings on New Year’s Day.

The crash happened on Maraekakaho Rd in Bridge Pa about 7.55am.

An 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Wellington Hospital for treatment.

As at 4pm on Sunday, he was in a critical condition in the ICU.

Maraekakaho Rd was closed until shortly after midday.

“Motorists are thanked for their patience while the road was closed for emergency services and serious crash unit to attend,” a police statement read.
