The Westpac Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards finalists have been announced.

Chamber CEO Wayne Walford said competition was strong and the confidence displayed by entrants showed "positive aspiration to grow their businesses".

"Putting yourself up for critique takes courage and I applaud those businesses who entered the awards and congratulate the finalists," he said.

"We can be proud of the calibre of businesses in this region, we have seen a range of talented business people managing strong sustainable businesses in this year's award judging," judging convener Steve Alexander said.

This year's competition is different with fewer making it through to the final stage "to tighten it up and add credibility".

Judging convener Steve Alexander said the time and professionalism shown by the team of judges, "all talented business people themselves", to identify opportunities for growth for each of the entrants was appreciated.

The awards ceremony is being staged at the Napier War Memorial Centre on Friday.

Tickets for the event are available through the website hawkesbaychamber.co.nz.
