The new iSite and library complex on Woodville's Vogel St is a show-stopper, Tararua District mayor Tracey Collis says.
Last Friday night, builder Peter Greatbatch handed over the building to the owner, the Tararua District Council, and staff from the iSite and library have been busy moving in.
Last year the council announced it was refurbishing its old engineering services building to house the iSite and library, as the current iSite, Woodville Library and Lindaeur Studio posed a major earthquake risk, requiring about $850,000 to enlarge and totally refurbish.
The council also bought the neighbouring section and turned it into a carpark, with an adjacent new toilet block also built by Greatbatch Building.
"We were contracted to reposition walls, ripping out some and providing an office for the staff. This has been a major renovation," Mr Greatbatch told the Dannevirke News.
Demolition began late last December and builders have been on site since mid January.
