New press brings more colour

Hawke's Bay Today is now being printed at Beacon Print on Wilson St in Hastings.

The new printing press replaces the APN Print facility on Warren St, Hastings.

Hawke's Bay Today general manager Russell Broughton said he looked forward to the days of black and white pages being over.

"It gives us greater colour capacity, greater flexibility in our printing runs and keeps all the jobs from the APN print site."

Beacon Print general manager Peter Halstead said the increased colour capabilities of the new printing press was the greatest advantage.

"At the old APN print site we could do 24 pages of colour, now we can do 48 and print in one section."

Hawke's Bay Today editor Andrew Austin said: "We are happy that the move to Beacon Print has gone smoothly, but we ask readers to bear with us while we work through any teething problems.

"The new press gives us the opportunity to make a few changes to the paper and we will be doing this in the next few weeks," he said.

From November 1, Beacon Print will also print Hawke's Bay Today's sister publications the Wanganui Chronicle and Wairarapa Times Age.
