Hawke's Bay locals who love a heartwarming comedy can be sure to find it at Event Cinemas Havelock North when Kiwi movie The Catch premieres on Sunday.
Directed by Simon Mark-Brown The Catch will visit Havelock North as part of its road trip around New Zealand this summer with the hope of bringing more than just laughs to its viewers.
Set on the scenic Kaipara Harbour, The Catch is an eco-drama based on a true Kiwi story where mates Brian (Nicol Munro) and Wiremu (Tainui Tukiwaho) catch a large snapper just days before an annual fishing contest.
While its a comedy the movie has a far deeper level that aims to tackle the world-wide issue of over-fishing by creating conversation about how New Zealanders can help address this problem.
"Over-fishing is a massive problem in New Zealand and we are looking forward to taking
this discussion and showing audiences this brilliant little film right around NZ this
January," Mr Mark-Brown said.
