Napier City Council staff were yesterday advised of a proposed new organisation-wide staffing structure that would "move council's focus towards high performance, innovation, responsiveness and better delivery of services to the community", chief executive Wayne Jack said.
Council staff attended presentations yesterday and will now have 10 days to consider the proposal and submit written feedback.
Under the proposed changes, while overall staffing numbers will stay about the same, 78 roles will be disestablished to make way for 78 new roles.
The final impact on the current staff will not be known until the end of the consultation period.
Mr Jack says that should the proposed realigned structure be implemented, it will provide a range of significant opportunities for staff with career aspirations.
