Cranford Hospice has named a new board to oversee its operation and direction.
The board will be chaired by former Port of Napier chief executive Ken Gilligan.
Napier GP Tim Bevin and Hayley Anderson from Hastings Health Centre will represent clinical interests while Judy Webster and David Pearson will represent community interests.
Presbyterian Support East Coast chairman Michael Konig and PSEC board member Frane Rosandich comprise the remainder of the board.
The appointments follow recommendations from the Cranford Governance Development Group, appointed by the Hawke's Bay District Health Board and supported by PSEC. The group also agreed to a charter to define the role of the new board.
Napier Mayor Barbara Arnott and Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule were part of that group. Both said the new board would be able to deliver quality solutions, meet community expectations and return community confidence in Cranford.
"This is a new beginning for Cranford," Mr Yule said.
"PSEC are playing a critical role going forward and they now have a dedicated team with wide ranging community interests."
Nurse Laureen Sutherland and GP Jonathan Eames, who sat on the development group, were pleased medical staff would have representation on the new board.
HBDHB chairman Sir John Anderson said the board was a positive step forward for Cranford.
In-patient services were expected to return to Cranford Hospice in November.
