The Navy's sea-lift ship HMNZS Canterbury is set to return to Hawke's Bay in just under a fortnight to offload a large chunk of the army's front-line hardware.
HMNZS Canterbury left the Port of Napier on September 17 - transporting scores of light-armoured vehicles and heavy trucks and trailers to Australia.
The
destination was Townsville, where Australia's largest military operation, Exercise Hamel, was to take place. The month-long exercise involved 6000 Australian, New Zealand and US troops.
The Port of Napier is the most accessible to Linton Military Base, where the armoured 1 Battalion is based. HMNZS Canterbury will arrive in port at 9am on November 17 and leave next day at 4pm.
