Hastings district councillor Adrienne Pierce has been selected as National's Palmerston North candidate for the 2017 general election.
Ms Pierce said she was thrilled to have the opportunity and grateful to the National Party for its support.
As well as being a Hastings district councillor since 2013, Ms Pierce is a businesswoman and former nurse, who founded and is a director of Smart Business Network Ltd.
She ran for the Hastings mayoralty last year, and contested this year's National Party nomination for the Tukituki electorate, subsequently won by Hastings mayor Lawrence Yule.
In 2014, she pitched for the National nomination in the Napier electorate which was won by Wayne Walford.
