Motorists travelling between Napier and Taupo could be in for a journey 25 minutes longer than anticipated, with delays expected at four work sites along State Highway 5.
Extensive bridge maintenance is being undertaken at Mohaka, with the bridge reduced to one lane during daylight working hours.
Traffic signals are in operation, with the New Zealand Transport Agency advising of delays between five and 10 minutes.
Unison contractors have also started work on relocating power poles at Te Haroto, where a stop-go control, along with speed restrictions, is in place.
Delays up to 10 minutes could be experienced at times.
Five-minute delays can be expected between Te Pohue and Te Haroto as pavement work is carried out, and just north of Glengarry, where seal widening is taking place.
Delays can also be expected at four sites on SH2 between Napier and Wairoa.
Sealing, pavement work and slip repairs are taking place just south of Tutira, Raupunga, and Willowflat Rd.
The Napier-Hastings expressway is open from Taradale Rd, but with restricted width and speed due to roundabout resurfacing where the road meets the expressway.
There will be detours through Kennedy Rd, Westminster Ave and Prebensen Drive for Taradale Rd traffic at certain times. Warning signs are in place.
