A Napier Port staff worker is in a stable condition at Hawke's Bay Hospital as of last night after sustaining a serious leg injury this morning.
A port spokeperson said the incident happened at about 8am when the staff member's leg was injured while unloading a rail wagon.
He was taken by ambulance to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
A hospital spokesperson said the man was in his early 40s.
Napier Port is investigating the circumstances of the incident and WorkSafe has been notified.
