Napier people are happier than they have ever been living in their city, according to a recent questionnaire.
The annual National Research Bureau questionnaire revealed 63 per cent of the about 454 people surveyed deemed Napier a desirable place to live, the highest satisfaction rating Napier has achieved since the survey began in 1991.
The results haven't surprised many public figures, including Labour politician Stuart Nash who said recent developments have resulted in a "real buzz" around the city.
Napier performed particularly well in outdoor assessment areas with 96 per cent of residents regarding public gardens, street beds and trees as either very satisfactory or fairly satisfactory.
Deputy Mayor Faye White, who has lived and worked in Napier for 40 years, said the results were "absolutely fantastic".
