Napier: Hunt continues for offenders involved in hit and run

The hunt continues for the offenders involved in a hit and run in Napier that saw one person allegedly struck by a vehicle before being assaulted on the ground.

Emergency services blocked off the scene following the assault along Latham St near Marewa School, during the afternoon ofNovember 25.

As of yesterday, almost three weeks after the incident, no arrests had been made.

Police are continuing to appeal for information and inquiries are “ongoing”.

“The victim was working on a vehicle outside an address when two vehicles arrived on scene,” police said.

“Multiple people got out of the vehicles and approached the victim.

“An altercation took place, before the white vehicle drove into the victim, before they were assaulted further while on the ground.”

The two vehicles were described as a white Japanese-manufactured sedan and a silver Ford Mondeo.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and underwent surgery, but was in a stable condition the following day.

Police want to hear from anyone in the Latham St and Bedford Rd area who witnessed the incident or anyone with CCTV footage of the two vehicles.

There were plenty of people watching the scene after the incident, as Latham St is a busy road and the alleged attack happened in broad daylight near a school.
