Napier City Council has been charged with selling alcohol to a minor in February this year at an ill-fated cricket international at McLean Park.
The latest development is another blow to the council which was criticised about the park's lack of drainage after the game was called off due to excess water on the outfield.
The council is charged with selling alcohol on a licensed premises to a person under the purchase age during the wait for the eventually abandoned Black Caps' first Chappell Hadlee ODI against Australia.
After several rain delays and attempts to mop groundwater from the outfield, the cricket match was eventually called off.
Another game in the series scheduled for McLean Park was moved to Hamilton and a subsequent report into the cancelled event found "poor management" had contributed to the substandard state of the venue. This report - authored by specialist turf consultants Sports Surface Design and Management - found a number of failings including a drainage system that needed replacing.
