A Napier Boys' High School teacher and a pupil will attend an international students space camp in the US in July.
Head of Physics and former pupil Nick Williams and student Mihnea Vlad, 15, are among five people selected by Royal Society Te Aparangi from New Zealand secondary schools to join students and teachers from 35 countries for the five-day camp in Huntsville, Alabama, followed by three days at Space Centre Houston in Texas.
A second sciences student from the school, 17-year-old Liam Silverwood, is also being supported by the Royal Society on a separate trip to X Lab at the University of Gottingen, Germany for a month in August-September.
The International Space Camp (ISC) visit, which brings together educators and students from around the world who share a passion for space travel and astronomy, comes just a year after another NBHS student attended the camp.
At least one other Hawke's Bay student had previously attended, and other students from the region's schools have attended space camps in Australia.
