A naked man who ran through some of Rotorua's tourist attractions before jumping into Lake Rotorua had to be rescued by the Coastguard.
The 20-year-old got about halfway to Mokoia Island, about 6km from the lake edge, before he was rescued.
Members of the public contacted Rotorua police just before 1pm on Sunday after seeing the man running naked near the Rotorua Museum and Government Gardens area, Rotorua police crime prevention manager Inspector Brendon Keenan said.
More people called police reporting the man naked at the Rotorua Lakefront before he got into the water.
There were a few hundred people in the area at the time given it was Easter Sunday and the craft markets were on, Keenan said.
