Mystery still surrounds a house fire at the weekend which left one woman with life-threatening injuries.
A woman in her 30s was pulled from a house fire in Kauri Pl, Mahora, Hastings, some time between 3.30am and 6am on Sunday.
As of last night she remained in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Hawke's Bay Hospital, a Hawke's Bay District Health Board spokeswoman said.
Hawke's Bay Today understands the woman has several children. Her family could not be reached for comment yesterday, but support was flowing in on social media.
It is believed the fire started in a bedroom and was able to be confined to that room, however other parts of the house were smoke and fire-damaged.
