A repeat Hastings shoplifter stole cheese and cream from a service station while her 10-year-old daughter did exactly the same, only pocketing chocolate bars instead.
The 31-year-old mother appeared in Hastings District Court facing 13 charges in total relating to shoplifting offences in Hastings and Masterton between May and August this year, to which she pleaded guilty.
On July 29, the woman and her daughter entered a Hastings BP, where she took a block of cheese and a bottle of cream. As she was taking them, her 10-year-old daughter filled her jacket pockets with chocolate bars. They left without paying for the items.
The charges she faced related to multiple incidents in Hastings, as well as an August 31 trip to Masterton in which she went on a shoplifting spree with a shopping list of items she intended to steal. Between May and July the woman stole a butane torch, rubbish bags, an extension lead, a gas lighter, seafood, a digital video recording kit valued at $185, clothing and food from stores in Hastings. In Masterton she visited seven different clothing stores, stealing more than $1000 worth of clothing before being apprehended.
She was remanded on bail for sentencing on October 31.
