More than 200 EIT graduates celebrate success with Napier parade

Eastern Institute of Technology graduates and teaching staff are today celebrating a possible record number of Masters Degrees.

More than 200 EIT graduates from the Education, Humanities and Health Science faculty paraded through Napier celebrating the end of their studies.

A total of 20 Masters Degrees were awarded to students and EIT marketing manager Brenda Chapman said that was probably a record.

'If it wasn't the most Masters Degrees conferred at once, it was pretty close to it. That was fabulous to see, particularly in the afternoon ceremony with the Masters in Health Science.

"It was very lively today, lots if cheering and families clapping and hooting and carrying on.

"It was a real tribute to the graduates, and also to our staff who have been teaching them and helping them to achieve."

Today's parade was the third and final graduation ceremony.
