Following wild storms earlier this week, Hawke's Bay can look forward to a more settled period for the rest of the week - making the mop up job a little more pleasant, at least.
MetService meteorologist Mark Bowe said the low pressure system that caused the rain on Tuesday had now moved away from Hawke's Bay, making way for better weather.
"We had a low pressure system that moved south-east across central New Zealand and as that came down it dragged some moist air with it and the front of that brought the periods of rain that you saw.
"That low is due to move off the east and by today (Thursday) will be well off to the east, so we'll just be seeing remnants of it. So, it's definitely an improving trend from now on anyway.
"For Hawke's Bay, coming in today (Thursday) you've got partly cloudy, with showers south of Hastings, and then it will be coming fine in the afternoon.
