A man could be facing at least eight charges of burglary following the identification of more property found by police during a search of a Hastings address on Monday.
Detective Sergeant Sally Patrick said five people had reclaimed stolen property after the find was publicised yesterday by Hawke's Bay Today.
The horde of mainly outdoors items, including lawnmowers, umbrellas, porch and veranda settings, garden ornaments, a hose reel and frozen food, was discovered after a member of the public told police of suspicious activities in the suburb of Mahora late on New Year's Day.
A 43-year-old man was apprehended with a trailer stolen earlier in the night in one of two burglaries, and from which stolen goods had fallen while leaving one of the addresses.
Police went to the man's home, where property from another recent burglary was also found in an array of items police believed were stolen. Items claimed yesterday were linked to further burglaries committed at least as long ago as late November.
