Ms Waby said anybody can register for the event, whether in a wheelchair, pushchair or mobility scooter, and last year they even had a pony do the walk.
"We just want people to get on board and register this week, as it is such an exciting day and for a great cause."
Each of the four courses run through some of Hawke's Bay's finest scenery with most courses ending up on the rotary pathway.
The event begins at 7.30am with the mega walk and run and ends at 12.30pm with a prize giving.
"The route ends at the Napier store and there will be loads of entertainment with cheerleaders, a bouncy castle, wardini and their shaped balloons, a bubble zone and painting."
All of the money raised from the event goes towards CanTeen Hawke's Bay, which provides support to young people from the age of 13-24 going through cancer.
Ms Waby said the support from Mitre 10 and the Mega Walk is huge for them and they are so grateful for the community support.
"It empowers young people and helps them realise that they are not fighting cancer on their own."
People who participate in the event can also get others to sponsor them and last year $1200 was added to the "kitty".
Registrations are open right up until Saturday morning but Ms Waby encourages people to resister before then.
"We are hoping for 1500 entries, as this years event will be bigger and better than last year."
The entry fees for the event are $20 for adults, $10 for children under 15 and adults over 65 and free for those under five.
People can also buy a family pass, which is two adults and two children for $40 or teams of four for $40.
Buses to and from the event are $3.
