Missing Napier man's son makes heartfelt plea for him to come home

A concerned son has written an emotional plea for his missing father to return home.

Jarrod McGillen, whose dad was last seen leaving Napier on Thursday March 19, has taken to social media to appeal for information that may help with finding his father.

Hawke's Bay Police released a statement appealing for any sightings of 53-year-old Wayne McGillen.

Jarrod, who posted a heartfelt plea to Facebook, said he hopes his father would return before the Covid-19 Alert level 4 was implemented.

"I know it's the last thing on everyone's mind in this time of crisis," he said. "But please, if you have seen or know anything about my father, please contact me or the New Zealand Police.

"I love you with all my heart dad, we all do. I hope your safe and come home soon."

Jarrod added: "Love to all of you - stay safe and stand together to crush this epidemic."

Wayne was expected to return home on Saturday March 21, according to police, after planning to hunt in the Kaweka Ranges.

He was travelling to the Makahu Rd area and was seen in a white Mazda Bounty ute, with the registration plate LPQ28.

Police said they have concerns for Wayne's wellbeing, as he is a type 1 diabetic.
