Two men stormed into a Hastings loan shop and threatened to punch a woman in the head if she did not hand over money.
The Maori men, who are believed to have been unarmed, made off with $180.
Police said the men, aged in their 20s, entered the front of the Matai St shop/home about 9.15am yesterday demanding cash and making threats to the female shopkeeper.
They said they would "punch her in the head if she did not give them the money", police said.
One man was wearing a black hoodie and black shorts and had tattoos on his leg and neck, while the second man was wearing a grey hoodie.
