North Island kickboxing champ Kelvyn Jones has brought home a silver and bronze medal from the Unified World Championships in Spain. The Unified Games is a global combat sports tournament that features hundreds of the best athletes from around the planet.
Eighteen-year-old Jones was one of six New Zealand fighters who went over to compete at the tournament at the beginning of this month.
He beat out Vasile Niti from Moldova, an Eastern European country near Romania, for the bronze medal in the low-kick category.
A rule that means you can kick and punch your opponent in the leg, body and head, but cannot clinch, knee or elbow.
He then went on to fight Spanish fighter Jon Miguez Talledo in the K1 final, but lost on points.
