This year's Haumoana Market Day was one of the best since its inception, organisers say.
Haumoana Home and School Committee chairwoman Robyn Burns told Hawke's Bay Today she was overwhelmed by the support shown by those who attended the event at Haumoana Memorial Park yesterday.
"It's the store holders, the people that come, our local community and the Haumoana Fire Brigade that contribute to the event.
"It's one of those things that without the support of the local community the market day would never happen and [it] was just one of those days where the planets aligned.
"It was just fantastic ... We had people that didn't want to leave."
Mrs Burns said more than 15,000 enjoyed the Hawke's Bay weather to take part in the market day, which helps raise funds for Haumoana School.
The committee was still tallying up the money raised from the event but was confident it would be the most made in its 14-year history.
Mrs Burns said all the money raised would go to help the school and its students.
"All proceeds go to Haumoana School, in particular it's for our IT school programme."
With the success of this year's event she said there was no doubt the market day would return next year.
Market day sweet success
