A man in his 80s lay badly injured and trapped when his ute crashed into a fence and rolled inside a popular Napier reserve.
Police, firefighters and ambulance were at 11.30am called to Trigg Cres, Taradale, to find a ute had rolled in Dolbel Reserve.
A police spokeswoman said they had freed the man by 12.15pm and he was being treated.
A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said an ambulance had taken the man to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a serious condition at 12.09pm.
At 3.30pm a Hawke's Bay DHB spokeswoman said the man was in a critical condition on Wednesday morning.
