A man was seriously ill in Hawke's Bay Hospital last night after being injured in a forestry mishap in Northern Hawke's Bay.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service reported a 40-year-old had multiple injuries after being struck by a falling tree near Tuai, near Lake Waikaremoana and northwest of Wairoa. The hospital reported he was in the high-dependency unit.
The rescue service was called about 1.30pm and the man was winched from a site understood to be in Patunamu Forest.
