They have been knocking at the door of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union as Magpies fans get ready for Friday night's ITM Cup Championship rugby final against Wellington in Napier.
Union marketing manager Jay Campbell said there was a small queue for about the first two hours after tickets went on sale to the public at 9am yesterday.
By last night, more than 1000 had sold which, combined with tickets sold previously to season-ticket holders and distributed through sponsors, meant more than 3600 seats have been booked for the showdown at McLean Park. It will be Hawke's Bay's first home final in 10 years and the first time the Magpies have played the Lions in a semifinal or final.
The Magpies are expected to be keen to bury some demons after losing away finals, to Tasman in Nelson 2013 and Manawatu in Palmerston North last year - and the last Ranfurly Shield defence of the season, against Waikato, 11 days ago.
Mr Campbell said hospitality boxes were available for the match and planning had been on fast-track since the Magpies beat Bay of Plenty in their semifinal last Saturday.
