The Hawke's Bay Magpies rugby team has got behind New Zealand ShakeOut - our National earthquake drill.

So far 34,200 Hawke's Bay people have registered to "Drop, Cover and Hold" at 9.15am on October 15, but the goal is to get at least 50,000 locals taking part.

The Magpies, led by Captain Brendon O'Connor and All Black Israel Dagg, have fronted a video encouraging Hawke's Bay people to take part in the drill.

Hawke's Bay Civil Defence Emergency Management Group manager Ian Macdonald says ShakeOut is the perfect opportunity for families, schools, businesses and individuals to practise what they need to do in an earthquake.
