Lys Rd resident Pat Green is urging the Tararua District Council to consider implementing a speed restriction on a section of Weber Rd after witnessing accidents on her stretch of rural road.
Mrs Green spoke at the public forum before last week's council meeting and told councillors she had witnessed two major incidents last year which has left her fearing for the safety of road users on Weber Rd adjacent to Lys Rd, east of Dannevirke.
"I've seen a logging truck come much too fast down the Weber Rd hill, with a school bus on the road and an accident when a truck coming from Dannevirke was on the bridge when it crashed with a logging truck," she said.
Mrs Green said a speed restriction was needed in the interests of safety.
Tararua District mayor Tracey Collis asked Mrs Green to report any incidents involving dangerous or potentially hazardous driving and near-misses to the police to help assist in developing a case to impose a speed restriction in the area.
