A vinyl record sale at Hastings Hibernian Club on Sunday, saw a steady flow of people through the door.
Record enthusiasts stood shoulder to shoulder at tables flicking through boxes stacked full of everything from heavy metal to pop and classic crooners.
Local stall holder and DJ, Alex Durbin said while the day was a success, it had nothing on similar events overseas where people line up in advance to get the pick of the bunch.
"In England and America they have them in big stadiums with thousands of people and stalls.
"Even in Hamilton a few years ago they had a big one with about 800 stalls - they need to get bigger here."
Mr Durbin initially found a passion for records through wanting to expand his knowledge of music.
"I have about 5 boxes of records at home, I fell in love with music by watching DJs on TV growing up and thinking, 'I want to be like them'."
His most collectable record is a Madonna album, which he picked up for 50c.
"I talked to someone who got $500 for theirs, but I don't think I'll ever part with it."
Another sale in Napier is planned for later this year.
