She insisted a 2011 post from her personal Twitter account which included a photo of her and her daughter smiling with John Key didn't indicate she was once a National supporter.
She also stood by a tweet from the same era which referred to her party's leader, David Cunliffe, as a "bully".
However, Ms Lorck proved a strong opponent against Mr Foss. The MP himself conceded Ms Lorck had run one of the better campaigns from Labour "in quite some time".
Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule agreed she ran "an aggressive campaign".
"It's fair to say she's been the strongest candidate to run against Craig Foss ... But at the end of the day, Craig had the resounding win."
Ms Lorck said the past few months had been "a huge learning curve".
"You learn a lot more from a loss than you do from a win," she said. She halted Labour's nine-year decline in Tukituki by reducing National MP Mr Foss' winning margin, a feat she sees as a cause for optimism.
"We're starting to rebuild Labour Tukituki and we've got a groundswell of new members."
She won the lower income and traditionally Labour-voting suburbs of Flaxmere and Camberley, but also won at polling booths in some central Hastings suburbs, such as Mayfair and Parkvale, which was an achievement, she said.
"That was our plan, to start winning back Hastings, because that's where we lost in the last election."
Ms Lorck said she left a congratulatory voicemail on Mr Foss' mobile during election night, which he had yet to acknowledge.
She also congratulated Labour MP Stuart Nash on his winning campaign in the neighbouring Napier Electorate.
"Full credit to Stuart, he's going to be a really strong representative for Hawke's Bay in Parliament."
Asked if she would stand for the electorate in 2017, Ms Lorck said: "I'm really keen to consider standing again."
In the meantime it would be "back to business as usual". She will return as a contractor to the PR and marketing company she founded, Attn!, but won't be able to start work until she has an MRI scan of her wrist, which is still healing after a severe break in April.
