"There are three icons in our town - Waisplash, the Fantasy Cave and the Gallery of History and only the latter doesn't have a sign on highway 2," said Terry Hynes to the Dannevirke Community Board at a meeting two months ago.
It has now.
With community board assistance to pay the resource consent ($500), NZTA's approval and more funding from the Southern Trust, the signs soon became a reality.
On Saturday, November 18, they were erected at the northern and southern entrances of Dannevirke by a group of volunteers.
The signs resulted from the expertise and generosity of Kade Webster, who made the frames, Ernie Christison, who donated the posts, Kimberley Stephens, who did the design, and Dannevirke Sign and Design, which took care of the printing.
