A 28-month-old boy has died after he ran in front of a moving car in a central Napier carpark this afternoon.
Police were alerted to the incident at 3.20pm and said it appeared the boy ran in front of the moving car in the carpark of KFC on Thackeray St. The boy was taken immediately by ambulance to the nearby Napier Medical Centre but died shortly afterwards.
Police are currently speaking to the driver of the car that hit the boy. The police Serious Crash Unit is also investigating and the KFC carpark is currently closed off.
