Lindisfarne College has taken out the Radio Kidnappers Talk-The-Talk Intermediate Schools Challenge after what the station's technical administrator Chris Gane said was a "spirited, entertaining and hard-fought encounter" in the final against Hastings Intermediate.
The moot had been that "Climate Change is Part of a Natural Cycle".
The contest, which has been held annually since 2002, saw 15 schools take part with all the debates, during the 10-week competition, broadcast live.
Adjudicator Lynne Trafford, a keen and noted debater, gave the teams detailed assessments of their efforts during the series and said it was pleasing to note the subsequent improvements which many showed as they progressed.
She emphasised to the teams how important it was to go out into the world and be able to speak, read and communicate clearly.
