Lindisfarne College students performed exceptionally well in the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools' Tough Guy Challenge in Rotorua.
The school had six students entered. Lachlan Cairns, William Little, Tom Mackisack and Ronan Lee ran in the 12km race, while Todd Douglas and Harry Mowat competed in the 6km race.
Across the two race distances there were more than 900 competitors, which made for some very tough, muddy conditions, especially in the 12km race, which was two laps of the 6km course.
Overall there were around 200 competitors across the 12km distance. Cairns finished second and Little third in the Junior under-16 category for the 12km and Cairns finished fourth overall in the entire field. Both received medals for their placings.
Lindisfarne College won the Toughest School trophy, the supreme award for the event. Points awarded in the top three finishes across both 12km races decided this award and Tom Mackisack was the third placed Lindisfarne runner.
