What do the nay sayers actually think will be happening in Waipukurau on Saturday?
We have a schedule printed in our local paper with the days activities ... the running of the lambs takes place at 10.30am -11am, so that is 30 minutes to travel approx half a kilometre. It would take me about 10 minutes to walk the same distance so I am sure they will just mosey on down under the wonderful care of their shepherds.
Think of the joy these lambs will provide to the children and adults alike.
Why not come and enjoy what Waipukurau has to offer on Saturday instead of whining and being miserable and thinking of all the ways you can stop the joy and happiness in life ... spring with it's blossoms, calves and lambs, new life to be celebrated.
I can assure you I would not go if I thought the lambs would be harmed in any way shape or form.
They will be physically and emotionally fine at the end of their little town visit and will be trucked back to their green pastures with something to baa to their families!
Rosemary Shore, I hope a lot of RWC visitors come and enjoy the day, I think any TV reporting worldwide will be positive, after all this is lamb country and we are right to celebrate it.
Put your boots on and join the crowds, you will be surprised and overwhelmed with their country hospitality and animal welfare, and you never know, you may even end up smiling and laughing ... oh hang on, enjoying yourself?

You really helped
A big thank you - to the people of Hastings who gave so generously to the Stroke Foundation Appeal on Thursday, September 8.
Considering we are living in difficult economic times, many people still dug deep and showed their support.
Every little helps and your combined support will enable us to continue to provide field officer services in the local community.
Thanks also to the three supermarkets that allowed us to use their venues and to those who helped collect and distribute information to raise awareness about stroke prevention.

Quality in question
I was interested to find out that the absolutely stunning Te Rewa Rewa bridge in New Plymouth was designed locally and that the project was conceived by New Plymouth District Council.
Wish our council would note that while we have designers who could meet the challenge, quality is not always found out of the area.
