After pumping flood water from his tenanted home in Dannevirke twice last week, landlord Derek Bentley wasn't a happy man.
Mr Bentley and Lisa Willoughby own 38 Victoria Ave and have battled flooding stormwater for a number of years.
"The sump on the property was put in by the owner in the 1960s, but since then neighbours have tapped into it," Mr Bentley said.
"When I purchased the property, real-estate agent Sharon Cuttance did say it flooded from time to time, but the council pumped it out."
The couple had paid up to $1500 for pumping before last week's torrential rain and were expecting another large bill after the latest two days of the procedure.
"Unfortunately the thing about all this is that none of the water on our property is ours, it flows from other properties," Mr Bentley said.
