Discipline, fitness, fun and friendship is what keeps the Kiwi Gems coach going.
"We have so much fun together and it takes us all over New Zealand. Just last month we went to Porirua where the ladies put on a beautiful march. I was rapt."
Dressed in their white pants, jackets, gloves, earrings and shoes the group of 10 take their marching across the country.
The main events for the team are the North Island's nationals and smaller-scale fun days.
"We travel four to five times a year and have been all over the place. We've been to Invercargill, Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and everywhere in between."
At each event the teams, in uniform, give a five-minute routine which is not judged.
Ms Sherriff said she enjoyed putting the routines together and over the years had noticed the addition of more hand movements.
"I think the way the young do competitive marching is rubbing off so we are doing a lot more hand movements.
"Other than that the focus is still the same and we concentrate on those smart and straight lines. It is fun watching others and picking out moves that you like which you can then try yourself."
The big events have a themed social night alongside the marching, adding another dimension of fun to the meetings for the women.
When the marching was held in Hawke's Bay there was a black-and-white themed social so the Kiwi Gems went dressed as the Magpies.
"We even got to borrow their shirts and actually had a magpie in the hall. It was a lot of fun."
The most recent social was in Porirua last month with the theme television through the decades; and the Kiwi Gems went as Robin Hood.
Today the group are getting together for a lunch celebrating their time as a team during the 25 years.
Ms Sherriff said there would be a lot of laughter and fun while reminiscing on the time they have had together.
"We'll have a cake and a photo board so that'll be good. It has been a lot of fun and we have all become very close. I look forward to more years marching as a group."
