Police are investigating an burglary where an 80-year-old had her car stolen.

Police were late yesterday still looking for a car stolen after a burglar took its keys while breaking into the Napier home of an elderly women as she slept early on Saturday.

The woman, aged in her 80s, awoke about 5.30am and discovered her home in King St, Taradale, had been burgled.

A door had been jemmied open, her handbag and the keys had gone, and her blue Nissan March (Reg No ELD660) was missing from where it had been parked behind the house.

Police said yesterday that the handbag and other belongings were found by a member of the public on Saturday morning in Bristol St, Tamatea, but the small car was still missing.

Another property in King St was also reported to have been burgled,
