Twelve members of the community will today contemplate the fate of a 39-year-old man, accused of kidnapping and murder.
Steven Tiwini Rakuraku faces 12 charges, including the murder of Johnny Charles Wright, 50, who disappeared on June 21, 2011.
Rakuraku has vehemently denied all the charges against him throughout the three week-long trial at the High Court, Napier, held before Justice Joe Williams.
Yesterday, Justice Williams presented the jury with his closing submissions, before allowing the 12 members to return this morning to consider their verdicts.
"The Crown says this is a case about a bully that survived on the run by installing fear into his victims ... Mr Rakuraku says that's wrong," Justice Williams said.
